Cats are fickle creatures as we all know, they don't come when called (unless they want to), they won't come to be pet (unless they want to) and they won't fully accept you as their human (you've guessed it - unless they want to). On the other hand, cats are completely at liberty to choose other humans, which they can be known to do. So it can be that even though you didn't think you were a cat owner, the cat decides you now are. And once a cat has made their decision, there is simply no persuading them otherwise. Here are some pictures that sum up this fantastic feline phenomenon.
1. Front Door Kitten Alert
Houston, we have a problem. And that problem is the fact that there is an army of kittens waiting to be fed outside the front door. Ok, it's not that big of a problem, it could have been a lot worse. But this is what happened after a loving cat mom fed one cat.
That's right, after a loving pair of cat parents fed one stray kitten, news quickly spread around the cat community. The next morning they opened the door and look what happened, well a kind of Christmas come early situation, in our opinion. An army of kittens waiting to be fed, patiently. Don't say that cats aren't smart.
2. Popeye The One Toothed Cat
What a character this ginger beauty is. He arrived unexplained onto one man's farm, who took him to the vet to check out what was going on. Well, the striking kitty was pronounced MINE by his ten-year-old daughter, who claimed that she wanted nothing for Christmas other than this cat.
Bet you can guess what happened next; the cat was rehomed and renamed; Popeye the one-toothed cat. We can't imagine a better Christmas present being possible. What a lucky girl.
3. Uninvited Yet Welcome Porch Guests
We all love to see a cat and a dog getting along, an unlikely pairing that warms all of our hearts. Something that makes it even better? The fact that this beautiful harmonious pair chose to share their vision of love with you.
That's right, this cat and dog aren't even residents of the building they sit in front of. The two of them chose this house personally to grace them with their presence, sitting in the day same position day in and day out. And what can the owners say? They simply have no complaints, obviously.
4. Black Cat Window Intruder
It's a subject of debate whether or not black cats are good or bad luck, we know. So what do you make of the situation when a small black cat creeps into the window crack when you're leaning out for a smoke?
This is what happened to one guy when he left his window slightly ajar. Maybe it's a little frightening, to see those big bright eyes looking up at you. But in our opinion, definitely good luck.
5. Cute Kitten Cuddle Puddle
A big gang of cats all cuddling outside of your house is a beautiful thing, who cares if they aren't yours? This pile of cats was spotted by one guy one morning, and you've guessed it, none of the cats were his.
So what did he do? Let them be, of course. But made sure to post the picture, after all it's incredibly cute. We just wish we knew the story of how this amazing furry cuddle puddle came to be.
6. Sleepy Cat Waits For A Shower
We all have the fear that we'll come downstairs in the middle of the night and be met with something we weren't expecting to see. But does this still apply if it's a cat? We think not.
This cat was spotted at 5:30 am in one guy's kitchen sink as he went down to get a glass of water in the night. Yep, it's not his cat. It looks tired, stationary, and very content. What a dude.
7. Squeaky Ball Of White Fluff Chooses Human
A little squeaky noise was heard in the backyard. So a human went out to look, and was met with this tiny wet ball of fluff. What an absolute heart melter. Well, the cat chose the human.
We hope that the owner take this cutie in and gave him a home, it seems like the only right course of action. Suggestions for names include Snowball, Squeaker, Fluffer, and Icicle. You're welcome in advance.
8. Disloyal Houseguest
When the next-door neighbors' house was put on sale, Michael did the same thing any of us would do - check it out. Little did he know that when he did so, he would find his very own cat pictured inside the house as if it were a part of the furniture.
As if it wasn't already bad enough that his cat was inside another guy's house, the position of the cat on the bed surely rubs salt into the wound. That cat is sprawled out so comfortably to the point where the neighbors' house is definitely its second home, and its gently side twist is easily saying; 'there's no chance you'll move me now.' Charming.
9. Snuggly Cat Chooses Lucky Human As Subject
The hug of a cat is really one of life's greatest treats. So imagine this guys surprise when this cat arrived in his backdoor one night, and by the next day was snuggling up to his face as though they were lifelong friends.
"Well, I guess I own a cat now." This guy writes. Yes, yes you do. But with a face like that it seems like a turn of events that have worked very much in his favour, even if he does look pretty shocked about it.
10. Patience Pays Off For This Ginger Kitty
This stray cat decided to play the long game, as it waited outside of a humans house for days and days. Curiosity killed the cat as they say, but not in this cats case. In this cats case, the long wait was all worthwhile, as eventually at the end of summer he was allowed to enter into the house.
Wasting no time to make himself comfortable and staking his claim as a legitimate member of the household, this cat sprawled out on the sofa like the king of the house. And let's face it, in many ways he actually is.
11. Stranger Cat Decides It's Time For Human To WAKE UP
Picture the scene, it's 2:30 am and you're sleeping peacefully in your own house with absolutely no problems. Until there is. A ginger kitten enters the scene and decides that you've slept enough, it's time to wake up.
Wake up for what? Well, for fun and petting, obviously. Admittedly, the guy wasn't best pleased by this home intruder but as we know by now, cats rule humans not the other way around. So the guy did actually get up. Fantastic.
12. Love Heart Cat Appears
When cats leave their abodes, the world is their oyster. They will travel where they please and accept any love they find along the way. This cat is no exception.
He was found by a man in his parents' backyard and was immediately fallen in love with. This cat is spreading the love with its little heart-shaped nose. We're in love.
13. Shocked Cat Surprise
When you come home from work, you don't usually expect to find a cat on your kitchen counter. On the flip side, when a cat is on the kitchen counter, it doesn't usually expect to find a human walking in on it.
This picture sums up the frustration the cat is displaying at being walked in on when it's simply minding its own business in someone else's house. It is his right, of course.
14. Feline Reptile World Domination Incoming
A cat and a lizard sitting in the bathtub together. The topic of conversation? World domination, obviously. Or at least we like to think so.
One lizard owner came home to find his lizard in the bathtub; not that weird. But the cat? Not his. The thought that the meeting was simply a coincidence? We think not.
15. Noisy Yet Incredibly Cute Intruder
A work place was having a noise problem; they were being bothered by some noises and didn't know where they were coming from. So they had a clever plan to create a live trap to catch the responsible perpetrator.
Guess who it was; this ginger cat. Caught red handed in the trap as the noisy trouble maker was this ginger kitty. And yes, the trap was so sophisticated that it was simply a cardboard box.
16. Spider Cat Will Find You
One of the great unexplainable happenings of life is how this cat, with its demon eyes, managed to appear on the balcony of one men when the man lives on the SEVENTH FLOOR. This spider cat must have scaled the building to make its way there.
The man, who doesn't own a cat, was obviously suitably worried and even asked; "Is this how I die?" Well, we hope not. Maybe this cat just really wanted to say hi to you. He could have said it in a less scary way, though.
17. Toilet Supervisor Duties Covered
This black cat appeared in a guy's house, sitting on the toilet, so comfortably it's as if he's always been there. The owner of the house, who doesn't own a cat, suddenly noticed something catching his eye.
Yes, it was this black cat friend, a cat that he doesn't own. To be honest, the cat looks frankly bored by the whole situation, but we think we might feel a bit too scared to try and move him ourselves.
18. Unknown Pawprint Artist
Wet paint is a risky business, each move has to be carefully monitored. If you have a pet cat, you know it's important to take the cat as far away from the painting situation as possible. If you don't have a cat, there's nothing to worry about, right? Wrong.
This person just finished painting her kitchen, went into her salon, and saw these white pawprints all over her couch... and she doesn't have a cat. So where has this mystery feline artist come from? We wish we knew. We really do.
19. Cutest Kitten Chooses Its Human
Picture the scene, it's 5:45 am and you hear non-stop meow noises coming from outside your door. Confused, you walk to the door and open it up, and lo and behold, this little guy runs into your house. What do you do?
Well, this was a situation that one man actually experienced when this cutest grey kitty friend ran into his house. That kitten is so adorable, we think it might be a legitimate crime to turn this small one away and not make him a member of the family immediately.
20. Cat Takes Control Of The Car
This cat decided it needed more power in life, so jumped up to the driving seat and took control of that situation. The driver had no choice but to let the cat lead the way, obviously.
The twist? This person doesn't own a cat. The cat simply jumped up into the car and owned the situation, leaving the owner to eventually ask; "is this how you own a cat?" Yes. Yes it is.
21. Waking Up From A Cat Nap
This guy woke up from a little midday siesta to a surprise. Now, if this was your cat you would feel more than honoured that it has chosen you to be the one that it rests its furry head on.
If it's not your cat, it is surprising to wake up with a cat on you. Where has it come from? Who is it? What is it's problem? The answer is simple; the cat has chosen you and now it is your problem.
22. Cat Thinks Its Prettier Than Flowers
The classic visit from the neighbors' cat is a normal thing, it's expected and accepted. This neighbor's cat is not only a frequent visitor but also an attention seeker. Here it is slotting itself in a flower vase, pretending it's a bunch of flowers.
Amazing points for entertainment value, performance, and execution. There's no way anyone could be mad at this cat for turning up and providing this kind of humor. We live for it.
23. Hide and Seek KItty Edition
Cats are known for their love of getting in small spaces, so when you're a cat owner this comes as no surprise. It did come as a surprise when this homeowner's father was sent a picture of a cat in between the towels in his bathroom.
The catch? He didn't have a cat. Well, at least the cat was staying clean. And at least those big brown eyes were incredibly cute. We can think of worse surprises.
24. Green Eyed Beauty Is On Morning Duty
What would you do if this green-eyed beauty met you upon your waking up in the morning? This happened to one guy who was staying at his girlfriend's house in New York and arose to this guy greeting him in the morning.
Naturally, the girlfriend's family did not have a cat. So this was simply a morning visitor who came through to give his start of the daily blessings. We can't get enough of how intense and urgent this cat looks, it really was watching him sleeping intently. Amazing.
25. Sneaky Cat Seizes Opportunity To Nap
This beautiful grey cat found this human enjoying a midday nap and decided it looked like a great idea. Naturally, the cat snuggled up against the man who was sleeping, enjoying the opportunity.
His wife snapped the photo so she could show him later what had occured. The man claimed that the cat stole his "hard earned warmth" but we don't think he looks too angry about it. Looks like a great cat nap all round.
26. Student Halls Cats Want To Study Too
These cats used to come into student halls to watch the iPad. The students obviously were more than happy to let the cats in, this kind of company is a great addition to any dorm.
After all, why should humans have all the fun? These cats want to be entertained too, and what a cat wants, it gets.
27. Attention Hungry Cat Will Not Let Human Study
When a cat wants attention, it can not be stopped. It will get it. Even if it means sitting on your books and in front of your laptop until there is no choice but to pet it.
This human was chosen by this cat, who is not their own, to be petted. Unfortunately, even petting didn't make the cat move. Once it found it's spot, it was happy and content and it stayed. Any suggestions on how to get it to move?
28. Cuddly Toy Impersonator Hides In Crib
This Siamese cat found a perfect hiding place within a baby's crib. Blending perfectly with the other stuffed animals, this cat found its natural home and could have happily been here for many hours unnoticed.
However, he was noticed by the family as he was not their cat, and then he was rumbled. The real question is, though, how long was the cat actually there before he was noticed. Perfect camouflage techniques, we love to see it.
29. Expectant Cats Demand Attention
This brood of cats was waiting outside one guy's door, with no explanation. But they seemed to think that there was no explanation necessary. The ferocious look on the front cat's face says it all; let us in and feed us... or else.
The frontman had a gang of supporters behind, and the human is definitely outnumbered. Yes, these cats have chosen you and you now have to decide how you want to deal with them. It's on you.
30. The Cats Out The Bag
The classic saying goes; "the cat's out the bag" but in this case, quite the opposite is true: the cats IN the bag. Yep, this human was chosen by this cat, who entered their home and hid in a bag in the cupboard.
The human, surprised by the intrusion at first thought 'I don't own a cat' and then realized, 'I didn't own a cat... now I do." Again, 10/10 for hiding skills, it's the ears that give it away.
31. Stray Cat Makes Itself At Home
This little sweetie followed a man home one night, and when the man woke up the next morning the cat had decided to stay the night. When he woke up in the morning this furry friend was sleeping on the porch, looking as comfortable as can be.
This is 100% a case of the cat choosing the human, and we wouldn't be surprised if that porch became the cats new permanent home. We'd definitely let it stay.
32. Scariest Thing To Find Under Your Bed
Little kids are always terrified about the monsters they'll find underneath their bed at night. What they're never told about, is the possibility that this thing hiding under the bed could be an unknown cat friend.
Yep, meowing was heard meowing underneath the bed and then emerged as this beautiful grey beauty. So, it looks like you own a cat now. On the bright side, the cat is absolutely, incredibly beautiful.
33. Hitchhiking Pussies Ride Free
Who could resist giving this kitty a free ride, since it had already made the effort of getting in the back of the car? This woman was shocked but not uspet to find a cat sitting it the back of her car.
No, it's not her cat. Yes, it's adorable. Let's be honest, nobody would kick this cat out of their car. It would only make the drive easier.
34. Greedy Cunning Cat Outwits Human
Cats outsmarting humans? So, what's new? This human went to feed her own cat (not the one pictured) and was greeted by this cat that wasn't owned by her.
Turns out this little guy had smelled the bin where she kept the cat food for her cat in and decided to investigate. Now she has two cats and nothing to feed them with!
35. Kitchen Cat In The Cupboard
This cat followed the food and ended up in a stranger's kitchen. This cat is clever, though. It didn't just wait on the side top for the food to come to it, it went to the food. That's right, it climbed up into the cupboard.
A humorous and surprising surprise for the homeowner. Maybe a bit annoying, but also very cute ultimately. We always welcome a cat guest, maybe he was hungry. Anyway, lesson learned that it's probably best to keep the cabinets closed.
