When we buy a new electronic device we expect that it's going to work the way it's promised - pretty reasonable expectation right? So you can imagine the surprise these people had when, after a few days, they discovered their device had melted, exploded, or otherwise malfunctioned in a way that rendered it totally useless. Shocked hardly begins to cover how everyone felt - and what started as a cool new toy quickly became a nightmare for these people. Get ready to laugh as you see people's most horribly ruined electronics that left them practically pulling their hair out.
Someone Is Going To Have Trouble Typing
When this person left her two-year-old alone to put her other child down for a nap, she came back to find her keyboard had been destroyed in less than ten minutes. It looks like she is done with work for the day because she can't use her computer.
How does such a small human do so much damage in just a few minutes? It looks like they had some serious beef with the keyboard, and it came out on the losing side. Instead of saying, "My dog ate my homework," parents can say, "My child broke my computer."
When The Person In Front Of Your Reclines Their Airline Seat Too Far
When this person was flying, they put their laptop on the tray table. Everything was fine until the person in front of them reclined their seat and crushed the screen. The person was extremely unhappy and took to the internet to complain.
Apparently, the flight attendant came over to the person and said the passenger in front of him needs to be able to recline his seat, not even asking about his broken laptop. It left the internet in a debate about proper reclining etiquette on a plane.
Turns Out Android Phones Might Actually Be Bulletproof
Just when Apple was coming out with waterproof phones, Samsung said, "hold my beer." This phone still works after being hit by a bullet. Therefore, Samsung phones are officially bulletproof. How is it still working with a giant hole in it?
The hole was so distracting at first that we almost didn't notice the phone was still functioning. We don't know many people who would walk around with their phones like this, but we are sure that some people would still try to use it.
Imagine Getting So Angry That You Hulk Out On Your Laptop
This person said their "friend" intentionally snapped their MacBook in half. They need to find better friends because this is ridiculous. What kind of person would purposefully break another person's expensive computer? Hopefully, they bought them a new one.
If someone we knew did this, we would stop hanging out with them immediately. They have some anger issues if they could snap this in half and not feel any kind of guilt while doing so. What a waste of a computer; there was probably nothing wrong with it.
"Camera Flickers To Fuzzy Brown Image Often"
The people who work in the security office kept complaining that the camera had a brown fuzzy image often. When tech support came to check it out, they found a little bird had a home inside the camera, and the people were just looking at the bird all the time.
They got their feathers ruffled over something that could be fixed easily. It would also help if the camera were mounted correctly because the sun visor is on the bottom, which won't be useful. We hope the bird got some good selfies before being removed.
They Drilled Holes Into The Mouse So It Would Be Lighter
Maybe this person wasn't thinking when they were drilling holes into their mouse, but they rendered it useless. The goal was to make it lighter so that it would move faster, but we have never had a problem with the speed of our normal weighted mouse.
Apparently, for competitive gamers, the speed of their mouse can determine how good they are at the game. There are mice with pre-drilled holes, and those work because no one took a drill to the internal hardware that makes it function.
When Someone Said The Printer Isn't Working
Did this person think the printer was going to unwrap the paper for them? We know technology is becoming advanced, but printers aren't that automated yet. These people are the reason shampoo bottles need instructions.
They must have thought that the paper works like a toner cartridge because you load the whole thing. Unfortunately, paper is not the same, and this person shouldn't be allowed to do office work related to expensive machinery.
"Sorry Dad"
When you have expensive things like a DSLR camera that can cost a few thousand dollars, it's probably a good idea to keep it away from little hands. While it's not a child's fault, they do tend to be destructive with expensive things.
It's hard to be mad at a face like that, but we can only imagine how much it is going to cost to replace that lens. For the future, they should keep the cameras out of her hands until she is a teenager, and even then, you have to be cautious.
“My Space Heater Stopped Working”
Their space heater might have stopped working, but the room will be warmed by the fire they almost started. This is why space heaters are usually banned from office spaces and why you shouldn't plug them into power strips.
Is this how Ryan really started the fire in The Office? How is it possible that no one smelled something burning? We can imagine the melting plastic would have stunk up an entire room. Hopefully, no one was hurt by this possible fire.
The User Had A Heater Next To The PC Which Was Randomly Shutting Off...Mysteriously
When this person started having problems with their computer turning off randomly, they called tech support. The woman had a heater next to the PC, and she smelled burning occasionally, but never thought to move the heater.
The computer is literally screaming, and she didn't realize that anything was wrong. If you smell burning, you should probably check it out to make sure you don't start a fire. That's what we would do, at least. This poor computer never stood a chance.
Who's Cleaning This Up?
This is always something wrong with the office copier. Whether there is a paper jam or it is out of toner, there is no guessing what kind of problems it will have. When this person walked into their office on Monday morning, they should have turned around and gone home.
We would not want to be the person that has to clean this mess up. How does this even happen? Who was the last person to fill the ink cartridge - because they obviously didn't do it correctly. Check the tapes because someone is at fault here.
Electronics And Children Don't Mix Well
When someone (we won't name names) confuses the laptop for a coloring book. We doubt those washable markers are going to come off the computer screen. Kids may not know how to use a laptop, but they surely know how to abuse them.
Parents are probably in constant fear when they forget to put their electronics out of reach, and we don't blame them. Our valuable technology would be under lock and key every time we left the room after seeing this. At least their laptop has some character now.
There Was A Virus On Their Computer So They Sent It Like This
When this person was having problems with their computer, customer support told them there was a virus, and they had to ship it for repair. The person shipped their computer like this and probably caused quite the scare at the post office.
We were already worried about coronavirus; now we have to worry about infected computers as well. What has this world come to? At least we know the user did exactly what the IT person told them to because some people refuse to listen.
"Oh, It's Not A Canvas?"
Not all children's creations are worthy of hanging on the refrigerator. It's going to be hard to watch their favorite shows through a layer of white paint. It's safe to say that paints should also be kept far away from the TV unless you were looking for a way to test your eyesight.
They will never know who got the final rose on Bachelor because they can't see anything. He really went to town with the paint, and it makes you wonder how long he was left alone before someone noticed.
They Said "Put It In Rice," Not "Put Rice In It."
Usually, when you drop your phone in water, you are supposed to put it in a bowl of dry rice because it absorbs the moisture. However, this person must have heard wrong because they thought they had to put rice inside their phone.
It's an honest mistake, right? Well, anyone with a sliver of common sense would realize that your phone is not supposed to come apart like that, and it just makes absolutely no sense. Our only question for them is: did it work?
Ancient Temple Of Asus
Although this looks like some ancient ruins at first glance, it is actually a motherboard covered in a heavy layer of dust. Was it sitting in a sawmill or something? How does a motherboard get so dirty? It might be the reason the system stopped working.
It seems like this would be the perfect setting for the next Star Wars movie. The actors would just have to shrink down to a much smaller size for this to be usable. Maybe this is the sign we have all needed to check our computers and clean them.
Someone Put A Candle On Their Computer
For some reason we will never understand, this person thought it would be a good idea to put a candle on their computer. As the wax melted, it seeped through the holes and went all over the motherboard. We don't know if this is even fixable.
Maybe they can heat it up slowly and melt the wax so it can pour out, but we don't know if that is possible without overheating the rest of the computer. We wonder if the candle was worth the price of a new computer, but we guess it wasn't.
Their Fan Was Making Too Much Noise, So They Taped Over It
This person doesn't understand how computers work because they taped over the fan to make it quieter, but that just overheated the computer. The fan is there to cool the computer down, so this was a bad idea, and you can imagine how their laptop would've started to have issues.
Some people really don't understand why computers shouldn't be above a certain temperature. This is another way for your computer to get dusty inside, which will also cause it to have performance problems. We hoped they learned a valuable lesson.
Should We Tell Them It's Not A Touch Screen?
This screen gives us anxiety because it is so dirty. It looks like it took this person a long time to realize the monitor wasn't a touch-screen. We can't look at our screens when there is even a small smudge on them, so this would drive us crazy.
How can they see anything with all these smudges on the monitor? While it is not ruined, it needs a good cleaning and a screen protector so the person can't ruin it with their fingerprints anymore. The poking would have been more understandable, but the poke and drag is throwing us through a loop.
"My PC Shut Off Suddenly And Won't Turn Back On"
This photo gives us the urge to sneeze, and we aren't even in the same room as the fan. Either they are sitting in a dirty environment, or they have been shoving dirt and dust into their computer since the day they purchased it.
How does someone let their computer get to this point without realizing the fan was clogged? They probably started to have issues with the performance a while ago, but they didn't know the cause until the IT person found this.
They Should Probably Update Their System
The last floppy disk was made in 2009, but people stopped using them long before that. These people need to update their system if this is the only way to restore everything because they will probably lose everything if the system crashes.
However, they hung it up with a magnet, which is the best way to erase a floppy disk. We guess they don't actually need it, but that would be a pretty outdated way to keep a companies data because these could easily get destroyed.
Well This Might Hinder The Performance
When you are so eager to try out the new mouse that you cut the cord while opening the package. Now the mouse is useless, and they have to order a new one. Admittedly, these packages are rather annoying, but we would think someone would be more careful.
If only they ordered a wireless mouse instead, they wouldn't have to worry about cutting the cord. This person should have their scissor privileges revoked because they can't open a package without breaking it. Would it work as a Bluetooth mouse now?
"So It's Not Water Proof?"
An iPhone plus and an open bathroom door are the perfect recipe for disaster. This little boy thought the ideal place for a phone would be in the toilet, probably because he was tired of his parents taking phone calls. Hopefully, they have Applecare.
He seems impressed with his work, like, "Look, mom, I found the best spot for the phone, and now you won't have to take all those phone calls." We definitely thought about doing this to our mom's phone when we were children.
AT&T Has No Idea Why Their DSL Services Is So Poor
In this neighborhood, people kept complaining to AT&T that their DSL service wasn't working or it was slow, and they had no idea why. The customer service said it had to be something with the wires in the person's home, but then a service person finally found this mess.
While knowing is only half the battle, getting a service person to fix this mess is a whole other fight. They should probably switch their service provider because this looks like a disaster waiting to happen, and no one is coming to fix it anytime soon.
When Your Child Locks Your iPad For 48 Years
When you repeatedly enter the wrong password into an iPad or iPhone, it eventually delays the amount of time before you can enter your password again. That is what happened to this person's iPad when their son got a hold of it.
The toddler didn't know any better, but he locked the iPad for 48 years until 2067. The newer software locks you out after ten minutes, but this older iPad lets the toddler run up the clock. There has to be a way to unlock it, but that is unfortunate.
A Customer Peeled Off The Glass So They Wouldn't Notice The Cracks
A customer came into the Apple store with the glass cracked, and he thought he could peel off the glass so they wouldn't notice the crack anymore. In theory, it was never a good plan, but it was the effort that really mattered.
It's almost like cutting yourself and then ripping the rest of the skin off so you can't see the rest of the cut anymore. It requires a special person to think to do this, and we would love to know the person who thought to do this.
The Hammered The USB Into The Computer
When your USB doesn't go all the way into the slot, so you take it upon yourself to hammer it into the computer for a flush-mounted look. It also looks like they attempted to dig it out because they knew they made a big mistake.
The thing now doesn't work, and they have to get their computer fixed because they probably broke for the circuitry. Some people have gotten lucky, and everything still works fine, but this person went to town and left a crack on the side.
That Will Be Hard To Explain To Tech Support
This is what happens when you leave a two-year-old with a laptop. What is it with children and ripping the keys off the keyboard? We have never had the urge to pick at our keyboards, so what do children have against typing?
It's almost like visual birth control when we see this because we can save a lot of money and trips to tech support without children. Laptops must be the enemy of children because when parents use them, kids don't get attention.
Don't Forget To Tip Your Server
This server tipped over, and someone was slacking when they forgot to secure the thing that costs tens of thousands of dollars. They could have used that money to actually tip a server instead of this one. Now their systems are down.
While it might seem funny, this hurts our eyes because of how much damage was done in a few seconds. No one could have saved this except the person that was supposed to anchor this to the wall or ground.
Grandpa Thought His Headphone Jack Was A Screw Hole
The boomers and generations before them have struggled with advancing technology, and this is the perfect example of that. This man thought his headphone jack was a screw hole, so he put a screw in it. We don't know if the phone works or not, but we have never seen anyone do this before.
Why would a phone need a screw? It's not like it was falling apart. It caused the phone to start rusting, and we don't know why he hasn't taken the screw out yet. Some people probably shouldn't have smartphones because they are too advanced.
They Had One Job...
It was his first day on the job, and he was asked to set up four wireless speakers. Somehow, he managed to mess that up by setting placing them upside down. We don't know how someone gets this wrong, but maybe he thought the stands were antennas.
What are the chances that he was asked not to come back to work the next day? Maybe he had never seen these speakers before, and in his mind, this was the most logical setup. Hopefully, it didn't affect the function of the speakers too much.
The Disc Drive Wasn’t Working And They Found This Inside
This person works for a local high school, and the disc drive wasn't working. They opened it up to find this stuffed inside it, and it was probably there since 2012 when this meme peaked. You really don't see this guy popping up on the internet as much anymore.
This is another reason to hate meme lords; they never know when they are taking it too far and beating a meme straight into the ground. We thought this one died, and we hope this doesn't bring it back. Some things should stay in 2012.
When The Acid Hits
We don't know what happened to this computer, but we can assume someone hit it or dropped it, causing the pixels to bleed. This is another reason you should never give LSD to your computer; it will mess it up and get addicted to the feeling.
Someone should make this their friend's home screen just to freak them out. It would be a hilarious prank, even though it's a bit cruel to watch them get flustered about their monitor. It also looks like someone put a magnet on their screen.
User "Dropped It Walking To The Car"...Believable
The day after the Super Bowl, someone can to the Genius Bar claiming they dropped their computer while walking to the car. We don't think this kind of damage can happen from falling it on the ground, and the people fixing it didn't believe the excuse either.
We don't know why people get so angry about a sports game that they aren't even playing in. He probably bet a lot of money that one team would win, and then they lost, and he lost all his money. This is why there is help for gamblers.
This Tech-Savvy Person Said It Was More Convenient This Way
This person's "tech-savvy" aunt said she liked her phone this way because it was more convenient. Does she not realize that she ripped the glass off of her phone, which makes it unusable? Some people have no idea what they are doing when it comes to technology.
We wish we could unsee this because it makes our brains hurt. Why spend money on a pop socket or phone stand when you can just rip your phone apart and prop it up like that is normal? We don't even know how she managed to do this.
How Students Treat Their Chrome Books From School
Today, many schools give students laptops because they are moving away from traditional materials to put everything online. Although it is suitable for the people who can't afford their own laptops, this is how teenagers treat things, and it costs the school too much money.
They throw it on tables, shove it in their lockers, and refuse to put it in a protective sleeve. It is like watching money fly out of the school budget every time they hand one of these to a student. We don't know how anyone could manage this kind of damage.
It Technically Still Works
If you have ever dropped your phone, you know that heart-stopping feeling because iPhones crack so easily. This person not only dropped their phone, but a car then ran over it. We are surprised they can still see the picture on their lock screen.
We don't know if AppleCare covers this, but they might need to just buy a new phone. It looks like the phone is bleeding because it is so injured from the accident. One day phones will probably have advanced technology that makes them heal like humans.
“My Flash Drive Won’t Show Up And I’ve Literally Tried Everything!”
When you really don't understand which port goes with which device. This person had no idea why their USB wasn't showing up on the screen, and it might be because they were plugging it into the HDMI port right next to the USB plug.
It's almost comical that they didn't even try to put it in the correct spot. They said they had no idea why this wasn't working and couldn't figure out the problem. Some people don't even bother to troubleshoot their problems before calling for help.
They Must Have Thought These Were Legos
These children were trying to make working from home more entertaining, so they decided to rearrange the keyboard. This parent is going to have an awkward conversation with their boss because they can't do work until their laptop is fixed.
It would be a good idea to keep the electronics out of reach when getting up from the table. These two plotted their attack the entire time, and now someone has to pay to fix it. We doubt they have enough money in their piggy bank to cover the costs.
They Were Tired Of The Telephone Ringing So It Went In The Oven
Have you ever gotten so annoyed with the sound of the phone ringing that you put it in the oven? We haven't but this person did, and they literally melted their phone. How many phone calls were they getting to make them this angry?
To be fair, this did make the phone stop ringing, but they won't be able to call anyone back now. What if there is an emergency and people can't reach them because the phone is melted? It seems like they didn't think this through when they put it there.
"There Is An Error Message About The Ink Cartridge"
We have never seen an ink explosion quite like this. The printer malfunctioned and sprayed blue ink all over the inside of the printer, which is probably why it was showing an error message over and over again.
It looks like someone from the Blue Man Group threw up here. Maybe this was one of those gender reveals gone wrong. They are getting a little out of hand these days, so we wouldn't put it past someone to break a printer in the process.
Time For An Upgrade
When this person left their child alone, they came back to find their phone in a cup of water. We can't blame the child for this one because this person needed an upgrade anyway. We don't know many people who still use flip phones because they can barely send texts.
This phone would probably still work because those flip phones were built to last. Whoever has a flip phone probably hasn't had to change their phone since the day they bought it. These could get run over by a car, and they would still work.
"Oh, No...Look What Happened To The TV"
One morning, their child was not in a good mood and said, "I'm busy today. I'm not going to school." To add some flare to this tantrum, they took the TV remote and threw it backward, hitting the $1,000 smart-TV. When his parents turned it on, they couldn't help but notice that the screen was broken.
While it would have taken years for him to earn enough allowance to pay for the TV, they did take away allowance for six weeks and the contents of his piggy bank. He looks a little shocked that he was powerful enough to break the screen.
